Working closely with a faculty supervisor, candidates identify a research question in areas such as constitutional law, international law, commercial law, or human rights law.
After completing coursework and a comprehensive examination, candidates advance to candidacy by defending a dissertation proposal. The remainder of the program is dedicated to independent dissertation research, culminating in a written dissertation and its public defense before a doctoral committee, with support to present at academic conferences and publish in peer-reviewed law journals.
Applicants must hold a Master of Laws (LLM) or an equivalent recognized advanced legal qualification, together with a research proposal and the required English language proficiency, to enroll in this program.
